TRIPURA ROAD TRANSPORT CORPORATION (A Government of Tripura Undertaking) have been established in the year 1969. AD under the ROAD TRANSPORT CORPORATION (RTC) Act, 1950 AD.  The main objective of this Corporation is to provided / render an efficient, economical and well co-ordinated transport facilities to the people of Tripura within the State. The Corporation (TRTC) initially started its Goods Service Transportation by utilising Automobile Truck since June 1971 AD. Subsequently to meet the growing demand of the Travelling passengers of Tripura State, TRTC had been started rendering of Domestic Passenger Bus services throughout the State of Tripura since December 1973 AD.

TRIPURA ROAD TRANSPORT CORPORATION  started  its Passenger Domestic Bus Services throughout state of Tripura almost in all the Sub-Division and District Head Quarter  except Sonamura Sub-Division including the remote & interior places in the greater interest of the People of the State irrespective of the loss making bus routes where the Public Transportation services were not available, to provide well co-ordinated Road Transport Connectivity for the purposes of Socio-Economic Development of that locality(s) as stand by support of the State Government of Tripura and for achieving the said purposes, Bus-Station/ Depot  were being setup in different places / District at its own land with a required infrastructural facilities considering the importance and necessity of Road Transport Connectivity throughout the State.

Subsequently, considering the growing demand of travelling passengers of both, the People of Tripura and others besides the existing domestic passengers bus services, Inter-State bus services were started by TRTC upto the neighbouring State of Assam at Silchar from both Krishnanagar,  Agartala and Dharmanagar, North Tripura bus station of TRTC respectively. Further gradually Inter State Bus Service was also started upto Guwahati in the State of Assam from Krishnanagar Agartala to meet the increasing demand and necessity of the travelling passengers of both Tripura & Assam by way of providing  Deluxe / Luxury  passenger bus services due to non-availability / non-entering of Rail / Train services while side by side was arranged a separate bus ticket booking office at Guwahati City  with the help of ASTC. Afterwards, the prestigious International Bus Services  had also been started by TRTC to the neighbouring Country of Bangladesh in Dhaka City from the Krishnanagar, TRTC Bus Terminus, Agartala since the year 2003 AD  to fulfil the prolonged demand of travelling passengers of both the Country i.e. INDIA & BANGLADESH respectively with the sincere help & co-operation of the Government of both the Countries.
